Upon first learning of PSSM1 and that there is a DNA test for it. I started on a campaign to have AMHA address this and allowing testing and subsequent posting of the results on the registry. Sadly, the board chose not to allow this thru AMHA. I felt that this easily screened out disease would go under the rug so to speak without someone to keep track of it. Granted the incidence of PSSM1 in Morgan's is low but without active testing it could easily explode with just the wrong combination.
I started tracking positive horses in 2022 and have had a lot of brave breeders and owners support me by providing test results others also provided monetary support for me to get this info into a database and keep this site up.
If I am ever unable to continue with this my intention is to pass it on to someone who is as dedicated as I am to the cause.
Full confidentiality is offered for anyone who tests and does not want the information public. I realize this is not a popular choice as everyone wants to know. However, in the interest of searching for the source it is a must.
Many of these are well known horses and it becomes harder and harder to narrow as we go but each positive horse can help eliminate horses that they do not all have in common.
